Two days Lahore Eurasia Film Festival held in University Of Lahore, Lahore


First Lahore Eurasia Film Festival was held in University of Lahore arranged by School of Creative Arts. It was two days festival inaugurated by Patron University Mr. M A Raoof.  He said in his opening words that the University always arranged the cultural activities in the campus. Film is a strong medium in the modern world to develop society. He added film is a new medium of advance Communication and we will always contribute to the cinema through our School and Faculty.

On first day, several films were screened in two auditoriums. Two parallel penal discussions were held on first day with famous contributors of Pakistani Cinema. One discussion was on Story telling with the panelist Asgher Nadeem Syed, Imran Peerzada and Ali Akbar Natiq. The other discussion was with the production team of “Ready steady No”

On Second Day a special showcase of Children Films was screened. After the screening a discussion was held with Miss Sahar, from The Little Art.  The panel talk of 2nd day was also on film with the senior panelist Mr. Usman Peerzada, Meera Hashmi, Ather Jafri and Azhar Sukhera on Digital Cinema. Another talk on ‘Film today and Tomorrow’ was discussed with Mr. Adeel Hashmi.

School received 200 films in five different categories, Documentary Films, Experimental, Short Films, Animation and Music Videos from many Pakistani Universities and across the Europe. 40 films of various categories were short listed for showcasing in the festival.

The Awards ceremony was held at the end of the festival. Mr. Nasir Mahmood, Pro Rector Academics distributed the awards among the winners. In his final words Mr. Nasir encouraged the young film makers and students of Film studies. He appreciated the effort of Mr. Syed Muhammad Raza Zaidi, Head of School of Creative Arts for his efforts and contribution. Best documentary Film award was given to an alumina of school Mr. Zia Zeo on his film ‘Shupun Xik. The best experiment and short film awards were given to ‘Auto Meet Love’ and ‘Doorbeen’ respectively. The festival was covered by leading broadcast media nationwide.

The festival was a great effort of School Students under the supervision of Mr. Umar Saeed, Film Maker and Lecturer in School of Creative Arts, University of Lahore.
